Our People

Adam Kowalski – Managing Director

As the Managing Director of CBR Recruitment, Adam is responsible for setting the company’s strategic direction and leading the talented CBR Recruitment team. Adam has over 25 years’ experience in HR and recruitment, commencing in the industry in 1997 as part of one of the first teams to introduce outsourced HR to the Australian Public Service. He graduated from the University of Canberra with qualifications in HR and has extensive experience in Executive Search, Permanent Placement, Temporary Recruitment, Coaching, Contractor Management, HR Consulting, and Government Selection Process Management. Adam founded CBR Recruitment in 2020 with the aim of delivering highly innovative, customised recruitment and HR solutions. Under his leadership, the company has grown from strength to strength, and has developed a strong reputation for being a professional, innovative, and ethical recruiter. Adam’s strategic focus is to foster productive relationships with likeminded organisations, leverage government panel arrangements, develop the company’s training and HR consulting service offerings and to manage bespoke and specialist recruitment projects.

Charlie Hanley – Scribing and Marketing Manager

Charlie has extensive experience in public sector recruitment process management, along with high level skills in administration, retail and hospitality. Over her career she has thrived in roles that have a strong client service, team leadership and coordination focus. Charlie began working with CBR Recruitment in 2021, and as her responsibilities have grown, she has been promoted to the position of Scribing and Marketing Manager, where she has responsibility for managing the company’s scribing services, along with the marketing efforts of the business. In her role, Charlie onboards new scribes, coordinates large-scale, complex end-to-end recruitment processes, and ensures CBR Recruitment consistently delivers outstanding scribing services to its broad and ever-growing client base. She also manages our website and social media accounts, ensuring we deliver relevant, engaging content and building our audience. In conjunction with her role, Charlie is currently undertaking qualifications in Human Resources.  Outside of work, Charlie’s interests include photography, spending time at the beach, and keeping fit. She loves animals, especially her Labrador / Kelpie cross puppy, “Pongo”!

Olivia Bentzel – Technical Writer / Copywriter

Olivia has a wealth of writing and editing experience, combined with a track record of performing within administration, and hospitality settings with a focus on customer service and staff organisation. After graduating with her Bachelor of Writing from the University of Canberra, she joined CBR Recruitment as a Technical and Copywriter, providing writing and copywriting support across all areas of the business. Within her role, Olivia provides technical writing, marketing, media, and recruitment support across the business. She works to ensure consistency, and develop efficiencies across the company’s various platforms and business processes, and she works very closely with the company’s scribing and recruitment teams. She supports business goals, fostering growth and generating engaging ideas. Olivia has a passion for writing in all forms and a love for the city of Canberra. Outside of work, she keeps up her hobbies of reading, crochet, and music. Her favourite things to do in her free time is take her dog, Moose, for a walk and wander handmade markets.

Blanca S Barreras – Para Consultant

Blanca has broad experience in client-centric settings, having led and managed a fast-growing corporate apparel company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She joined CBR Recruitment in 2022 as a Team Coordinator, and has since been promoted to the position of Para Consultant due to her passion for recruitment and her strong desire to achieve great outcomes for clients and candidates. In this role, she excels in supporting a range of government and private sector recruitment projects, develops strong candidate and client relationships and she is also involved in developing job advertisements and briefs, managing recruitment project timelines, and developing high quality fields of candidates. In her role, Blanca is also involved in a range of business development initiatives, with a goal of strengthening relationships with the existing client and candidate base. Her engaging and energetic approach plays a crucial role in advancing CBR Recruitment’s strategic objectives and maintaining high standards of service. Outside of work, Blanca is known to enjoy an early morning gym session and buying new outfits for her dog Lexi.

Brooke Baran – Receptionist

Brooke brings a blend of hospitality, property management, and administration experience to her role as the first point of contact at CBR Recruitment. Currently in the final stages of completing a Bachelor of Business Administration at the Australian National University, Brooke majors in Management and minors in Marketing. Her academic journey is marked by multiple awards, including eight endeavour awards for outstanding effort and an accolade for first place in Digital Technology. Brooke has honed her customer service skills in various roles, her ability to maintain detailed records and handle customer inquiries with care makes her a valuable asset to our team. At CBR Recruitment, Brooke’s positive approach is complemented by her excellent technical skills and passion for management and marketing. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors, spending time travelling and off-roading whenever she can.
